You would want to wait 2-4 weeks before staining. Wood will need to be cleaned beforehand. A light pressure washing is sufficient. Recommend : Sherwin Williams Exterior Deck Stain | Solid or Semi Transparent

To clean the decking, clear the area of any furniture or items that might get in the way. Sweep away debris and dirt with a broom or brush. Wet the decking then apply soap and scrub the boards with a brush. Rinse off the soap, and you’re done! The sun will dry the decking. 

Using marine grease with a grease gun apply grease to gear plate and pipe bearings as needed. Check for cable fraying periodically

Avoid letting the cradle drop all the way to the ground to avoid cable unraveling
